• Trim before every burn: For the cleanest, most even flame, trim your wick to about ¼”. 

• Mind the flame: If your flame grows larger than 1½”, blow it out, let it cool, trim and relight. Always remove wick trimmings before the next burn.

• The first burn matters: Let your candle burn long enough to reach the edges of the vessel (about 4 hours for our 10 oz size). This prevents tunneling and sets the memory for an even burn.

• Keep it cool & consistent: Since our candles are hand-poured with natural ingredients, slight variations, like beeswax cracks, are normal. Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and humidity.

• Burn smart: Limit burn sessions to 3 - 4 hours. Always place your candle on a flat, flame-resistant surface and never leave it unattended. The vessel may get hot, do not touch until fully cooled.

• Avoid drafts: If your candle smokes or the wax turns black, it’s likely burning in a draft or for too long. Once cool, you can gently wipe away the scorched wax with a soft cloth.

• When it’s time to say goodbye: Discontinue use when about ½ inch of wax remains to avoid overheating the vessel.

• To repurpose our beautiful crystal vessel: Place it in the freezer for at least 3 hours - the wax will constract and it should release easily. If you find it hasn't fully contracted, let it sit on the counter for a bit and it should release from the vessel. Your l.a. ROUGE is ready for its next adventure.

l.a. ROUGE candles are intentionally lightly scented. Unlike traditional fragrance oil candles that can overpower a space, ours are made with natural essential oils designed to enhance meals, moments and connection, never to overwhelm a room.

l.a. ROUGE scents are created to live at the dinner table, where scent should whisper, not shout.

This way, your candle sets the mood, supporting the gathering, the food and the conversation, without ever taking over.

Because l.a. ROUGE candles are made with natural ingredients and no chemical stabilizers, small cracks are normal. Beeswax especially tends to expand and contract with changes in temperature, it’s part of its natural character. To balance this, we blend in coconut oil, but surface cracks can still appear.

Cracks may be caused by the specific scent, shipping or even local weather. Rest assured, these are purely cosmetic and will disappear the first time you light your candle.

We love our fur babies here at l.a. ROUGE. In fact our candles are named after them! Dolly & George. Our candles are made with natural essential oils at low concentrations and when burned properly in a well-ventilated space they are generally considered safe around pets.

That said, every animal is unique. Some pets can be more sensitive to certain oils. Always allow your pet to freely leave the space while burning a candle and never allow them to lick or ingest the wax or oils. If you notice any unusual behavior, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian.
